  • In conjunction with the Accident Prevention & Insurance Associations ZARGES is publishing a brochure calling for more safety in the use of access equipment;
  • Information on hazard assessment and on choosing the right access equipment;
  • Legislative texts, check lists and safety tips

When it comes to working at high levels, the word SAFETY should be written in capital letters. Again and again it happens that the wrong access equipment is used or is handled in the wrong way. In the interests of providing important tips on enhanced safety and to summarise the current requirements demanded by legislation and the Accident Prevention & Insurance Associations, ZARGES has compiled a 12-page brochure under the heading “Safety & More“ which has just been published with a run of 20 000 copies. This compendium on safety in the use of access technology has been drawn up in close consultation with the Construction Services Technical Committee for the Accident Prevention & Insurance Associations.

In addition to the statutory principles governing the use of access equipment and the assessment of the usage situation, the primary criteria are those relating to the selection of the appropriate items of access equipment as well as checking quality and safety. An 8-point check list, printed in the brochure, provides guidance in selecting the appropriate items of access equipment.

Another section of the brochure is dedicated to the different groups of access equipment. The assortment ranges from step stools to ladders and the new ZAP work platforms, culminating in lifts, mobile scaffolds and modular industrial equipment. The individual access aids are briefly explained and illustrated complete with sample applications. What is evident from this is that the broad industrial assortment supplied by ZARGES offers the right access system for each and every situation. In addition, in each company there must be a properly qualified person who can take responsibility for inspecting the working equipment.
